Yulefest Location

Post  Lupus Draconis on Wed Dec 17, 2008 12:07 am

Alright people, so we need a place.
The current options right now are to use someone's house or to rent a spot.
We're looking for something big, preferably woodsy, and with either a fireplace or space for one.
If anyone has any ideas, please post.

place

Post  Jessie on Wed Dec 17, 2008 2:07 pm

I'm not sure too much about using my house (it's always a mess, and my younger brother is a creep sometimes), but we do have a firepit in the field in the woods behind our house.

Also, I'm a badass stew-maker (everyone ok with beef?), and stew seems to be one of the more palatable dishes the Vikings ate, and It'd be easier to cook it at my house where i know where everything is kept.

I think people are okay with beef. I certainly am.
Heehee, this is not an event for vegetarians.

How about someone (Mary?) checks the place out sometime, or you take pictures and post them on here?

The place in the woods was my first suggestion. The two things I have against it are; weather (not sure how it will be. but it will be cold. could be fun, but may also really suck.) and transporting the food. It can be hard to get a feast to a field through a forest.

Plus I do have some Nordic music that I would like to play throughout, just to make sure the Gods know they're welcome.

Yay Nordic music.

But yeah, we should have a backup plan in case woods doesn't work out.

Personally I think your(Karen's) place is the best. I have a feeling this isn't going to be really REALLY big, and even though the house and yard isn't all that big it has a kitchen we can comfortably cook in. And that outdoor fire pit (nice and private. won't have to worry about someone else using it).
And you do have those huge woods right next door. So I vote Karen's. Also close on metro. We can meet anybody taking metro all at one time, and then take that awesome stroll through the woods to Karen's house.
Yeah. I vote Karen's.

Alright. We'll see how big this gets, but it makes sense. I'll talk to mom about it on the boat.

Jessie and I were talking last night, and maybe her house would be better. Mostly because it's easier for people who still live in that area to get to. Uhhhh but our main consensus is that we can't properly come up with a definite conclusion until we get the opinions of the other guests.

Well, mother has approved use of my house, so it is available if/when necessary.
